Melissa Johnson-Graham, M.A., BCBA

Behavior Analyst, Executive Director

Mel is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and the Executive Director of Engaging Minds.  She is 2009 graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences and Psychology.  She was introduced to autism following her undergraduate career, and committed herself to helping and advocating for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.  Mel received her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis with a certificate in autism from Ball State University in 2013 and became Board Certified through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board in 2014.  She is a member of the Hoosier Association of Behavior Analysis (HABA) and the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI).  She is certified as a Level 2(p) practitioner in Professional Crisis Management.  Mel has experience providing ABA therapy in clinical, home, residential, community and school-based settings with learners across the spectrum.

Mel helped open our very first Kokomo center and has transitioned to Muncie to launch our second location.  She grew up in Muncie and is excited to serve her home community to help individuals and their families who are facing autism using the principles of behavior analysis.  Mel believes each learner should receive professional, individualized treatment by focusing on their strengths and teaching new skills to help them be successful now and in the future.

Jaime Heineman :

Jaime Heineman

Jaime worked as a case manager for the Department of Child Services. Jaime holds 2 associates degrees, one in liberal arts, and one in general education. He is currently enrolled at Indiana University Kokomo, and is set to graduate with his Bachelor's degree in psychology in May 2018. Jaime enjoys attending sporting events, playing football, and watching movies.

Lauren is currently pursuing her Bachelor's degree in General Studies with a Minor in Psychology at Indiana University Kokomo. Lauren has been with Engaging Minds for almost 1 year. Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband and 4-year-old son , hunting, walking her dogs, and being outdoors.

Nevada recently joined our team after interning with us. Nevada attended Northrop High School in Fort Wayne. She is currently attending Indiana University Kokomo, and will graduate in May 2018 with her Bachelor's Degree in Health Science. Nevada has a background in Nursing and cared for a child with Autism for 4 years. Nevada enjoys watching Netflix and spending time with her friends and family.

Morgan joined our family in June 2015 and has earned certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).  She is certified as a Level 2(p) practitioner in Professional Crisis Management (PCM).  Morgan came to us following three years working with the autism program through the Kokomo Community Schools.  She has worked with adults and children with special needs for 13 years with her background in Early Childhood Education. Morgan is currently pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in Applied Behavior Analysis through Kaplan/Purdue University.  In her free time, Morgan enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.

Kelley graduated from Indiana University Kokomo in 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.  Since graduating she has been working to help children and their families with behavioral health needs.  Kelley has a background working in many different settings, including school-based, in home and in the community.  Since joining our staff she has become passionate about learning more about Autism Spectrum Disorders and is credentialed as a Registered Behavior Technician.  Kelley is responsible for helping manage programs and co-consulting with our behavior analysts.  She recently graduated from Ball State University with her Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis.  Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family.

Beth has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) since 2014. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from Ball State University. She has worked in the field as a therapist, BCBA and currently works as the Clinical Director for the Kokomo center. She enjoys spending time with her husband Tim and two children Natalie and Landon whether it’s exploring the outdoors, hiking or cheering on their favorite team, the Texans. Along with these activities she loves to sing 90's songs. She also enjoys finding new restaurants, exploring new foods and having her husband cook new foods. She is excited to continue to grow and expand Engaging Minds Autism Services and provide outstanding services to those in need.

Alli has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) since 2014. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Speech Language & Hearing Science through Purdue University, and her Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis through Ball State University. Prior to becoming a BCBA, Alli had 6 years of experience as a Behavior Therapist and Speech Therapist Assistant. Alli enjoys outfishing her husband Adam, spending time with her son Henry "Hank", cheering on the Boilers & Packers, DIY projects, and is a self-proclaimed commercial quoter.

Makayla is currently attending Indiana University Kokomo studying to earn a degree in Psychology.  She has worked previously with children diagnosed with Autism in both the ABA field and in other settings. She loves animals including her two cats and three dogs. She loves to take her dogs to the dog park. She also loves to cheer on her favorite teams the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. All of these things she enjoys doing with her boyfriend John.

Lisa is originally from northern Wisconsin and attended Andrews University in Michigan where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature.  She moved to Muncie, IN with her husband Sam in the summer of 2013.  Lisa graduated with her Master's degree from Ball State University in December 2o15 and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in December 2016.  She helped establish and leads our Muncie team.  Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs, and is preparing to expand her family in January.

Lead Therapist

Ashley is a recent graduate of Purdue University, where she concentrated her studies in Human Services. With more than four years of experience including management and customer service, her passion for improving the lives of others led to a career working with persons with disabilities. She also previously worked with individuals with a variety of disabilities during her undergraduate studies and found this experience both inspiring and rewarding. Ashley is grateful for the opportunity to provide ABA therapy to those with autism and their families through Engaging Minds. She is excited to continue to learn more about autism and the principles supporting ABA to continue serving others with behavioral therapy.

Amber graduated from Indiana University Kokomo in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and recently earned her Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis through Ball State University.  She began working with children and adolescents in a detention center in 2013.  After graduation, she began working with children and families, focusing on their behavioral and mental health needs, while working in the home, community, and school settings.  Amber became interested in Applied Behavior Analysis after working with multiple children who were diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  She is credentialed as a Registered Behavior Technician and was recently named Program Coordinator for our evening social group for teens.  Amber is a student at Ball State University earning her Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.

Born and raised in Kokomo, Jackie is a 2015 graduate of Indiana University Kokomo with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Health Sciences, and minors in Psychology and Nutritional Sciences.  She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis through Ball State University.  Jackie has several years of experience working with individuals with special needs, including being an assistant coach for the Special Olympics volleyball team.  She is excited to finish her Master's Degree to better make a difference in the lives of families in her own community of Kokomo.  Jackie has a passion for working with children and watching them grow and learn.  In her free time, she enjoys watching sports, especially the Indiana Hoosiers and Green Bay Packers.

John studied Elementary Education at Ball State University and worked for St. Lawrence School for three years prior to joining our team.  Outside of work, John is a singer-songwriter, and is dad to two year old Mason.

Morgan recently graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Speech and Hearing Sciences. Morgan is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis through the University of Cincinnati. Morgan has always enjoyed working with children and has experience with home, school, and clinical settings.  Her interest in Autism Spectrum Disorders began while taking a research methods class at IU.  Morgan is originally from Alberta, Canada, but has lived in Indiana for 10 years. Outside of work Morgan enjoys cycling, being outdoors, and spending time with her family and three dogs.

Derrick also enjoys spending time with his family and playing fantasy football.

Rachal joined our Muncie team in December 2016.  She recently moved to Muncie with her fiancé, two (2) children and two (2) dogs.  She began working in the special needs field 11 years ago through the Special Needs Olympics of Morgan County, where she became a volunteer skills and events coordinator.  Rachal began ABA therapy three (3) years ago and became certified as a Registered Behavior Technician in January 2015.

Rachal is a great fit for our Engaging Minds family due to her kind spirit and compassionate heart.  Her extensive experience in the ABA field with individuals with autism makes her very qualified to work with our diverse population of individuals.

Bronwen enjoys spending time with her husband Aaron and puppy Teddy, reading, outdoor activities, going to the movies, working on house projects, and getting coffee with friends.

Dr. Sara is a licensed psychologist and researcher who specializes in assessment for autism, learning disabilities, ADHD, mood disorders, and disrupted attachment. She has been an infant and toddler mental health specialist working with families on the challenging issues of parenting difficult behavior within Indiana’s First Steps system for over twenty years. Dr. Davis uses a multi-modal approach that incorporates training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Narrative Therapy techniques. As each child and family is unique, the treatment plan is designed to meet their needs and reflects their special strengths.

Dr. Davis earned her doctorate in School and Education Psychology at Indiana State University. She completed internships at the Mind/Body Institute at Harvard Medical School and at Riley Child Development Center. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and Zero to Three. Post Doctoral work has focused on home based systems of care, attachment, and developing treatment techniques for families including nutrition intervention. Dr. Davis has offered supervision and research collaboration for the Butler University Physician’s Assistant program. She has been an instructor at Indiana State University and St. Mary of the Woods College. Her research interests focus on new diagnostic approaches for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, support to families with ASD individuals, and neurologically based treatment outcomes using Applied Behavior Analysis.
